J-Pop Will Eat Itself
I seem to be going through a wannabe-nihilistic phase at the moment. I've been reading lots Brett Easton Ellis and Hunter S Thompson, and the whole notion of fuelling my own downfall with a never ending stream of liquor and class-A drugs to alleviate the ennui of life seems strangely appealing. There's something glamorous (in admittedly Pete Doherty-esque way) about self-destruction.
Problem is, I'm not really very good at it. I do my best to consume myself in apathy, but then I listen to really chirpy indie pop music and it spoils the mood. Like this exciting song by Ivy League, fighting the good fight to reclaim the name of London Bridge after Fergie dragged it through the gutter.
Ivy League - London Bridges
Definitely both Jingly and Jangly. The Swedes are so good at this stuff. You really can't listen to this song and still be miserable enough to snort half a gram of coke with a quart of Jack Daniels as a chaser, before falling asleep on the doorstep of your stylish studio flat.
Not sure what to say about the next song, other than I like it. I don't know where I got it or where the band are from, but they sound like they might be Scandinavian. That seems to be the safest bet with me anyway. I should have been teutonic.
Portastatic - Sour Shores
And if Susie can get away with posting Billy Ocean, I can get away with posting this last song. I've discovered over the last couple of weeks that the PS2 is really the most crucial part of doing job applications. Its amazing quite how much of a role its played in the time I'm filling them in. This is the theme tune to Katamari Damacy, possibly the most mental game ever made.
Katamari Damacy
Really, it should come with a health warning. Nothing, nothing should be this happy.

Oh come on. Listen to that song and explain to me how I could not have downloaded it as soon as I heard it.
